    How Magnus can help

Commercial information from Magnus Opifex Seven. It is not clause-level legal or engineering advice, and it is not a statement of any statutory requirement.

Magnus Opifex Seven can help scope a project-specific review against the current revised text of this instrument.

This page quotes no performance figures. Requirements sit in the instrument and its statutory guidance, and their application to a design needs competent engineering input.

Ask about The Building Regulations 2010

This feature selects from 6 propositions recorded here from this instrument on The National Archives — legislation.gov.uk and displays them as recorded. It does not write its own answer, so nothing you read here is a summary, an interpretation, a legal conclusion or a statement about your building, and the selection is not exhaustive. Whether the instrument is in force, amended or commenced is not verified here — check the official page .

    • Not legal advice, not fire-engineering advice and not a compliance determination.
    • Answers are restricted to the verified primary-source propositions listed for this instrument.
    • No authorised copy of any British Standard or PAS document is held, so no clause content is provided.
    • A competent person must review anything applied to a specific building.

What is sent when you ask: your question, this instrument's reference, recent turns of this conversation and a reference stored in this browser. The question, the answer shown to you and that reference are stored in our records to run the service, so records from the same browser session are linked to each other. This feature does not ask for or store an email address. See our privacy notice.

The count is kept against a reference stored in this browser, not against your identity. Clearing browser storage or using another browser starts a new reference; request rate limits are what stop repeated automated use.

Ask what the instrument itself says, and the propositions recorded here that bear on it are displayed as recorded. Questions about a specific building, a design or whether something complies are matters for a fire engineer.
